Lean Construction Methods and the Evidence Behind Them

The Last Planner System, takt planning, pull scheduling, look-ahead planning with constraint removal, and Percent Plan Complete are precisely specified methods, and the specification is public and free to read. The evidence that they improve project outcomes is real but thinner and more self-referential than the marketing suggests: the most-quoted figures trace back to a founder's own doctoral data, to an unpublished lecture, or to case studies whose authors also ran the implementation. This report separates what each method prescribes from what has actually been measured, and sets both against what Indian public works instruments actually say - which, on programme control, is less prescriptive than it is usually reported to be.
